Final List of Vendors at KantCon

We’ve just finalized what vendors will be at KantCon this year!

Returning Vendors:

Gamer Ground - Gamer Ground is a friendly small game retailer from St. Louis, MO. They specialize in board games, RPG’s, Magic cards, minis, dice, gaming supplies, and more. Started as an actual store, this mom and pop shop(literally) had to close its doors a couple years ago for more time to raise their 2 kids. They now focus solely on dealing at midwest conventions.

Silver Gryphon Games - Silver Gryphon Games is the creative exploration of Ben Overmyer and Kevin Rohan. These two company founders have a total of nearly 30 years of gaming experience with an amazing array of systems, styles, and rules. With experiences ranging from war gaming to diceless systems to traditional board games and CCGs, Ben and Kevin possess incredible background and familiarity with the industry.

Black Blade Publishing - Black Blade Publishing are the current publishers of OSRIC, the Old School Roleplaying and Index Compilation. Allan J. Grohe Jr., co-founder of Black Blade Publishing, LLC – Allan has been playing D&D and other rpgs since 1977. Allan’s first professional gaming publication (“More for the Shadow Master”) appeared in White Wolf Magazine #11 in 1987; he has also contributed to The Unspeakable Oath, Pyramid, Polyhedron, and Dragon Magazine, among others. Allan was a co-founder of Event Horizon Productions, and has worked extensively with Biohazard Games (Blue Planet), Pagan Publishing (Call of Cthulhu publisher of Delta Green), Different Worlds Publications (Tadashi Ehara), and Pied Piper Publishing (Robert J. Kuntz). More-recent projects include editing OSRIC version 1.0 as well as Mythmere Games’ Tomb of the Iron God. Allan’s editorial and development work has contributed to winning one Origins Award, securing four Origins Award nominations, and two ENnie Award nominations.

Greater Than Games - Greater Than Games is all about making the games that we have always wanted to play. We love playing games, and we love our ridiculous process of game creation. The most important thing to us is making the sorts of games we want to play available to everyone. Our first product here at >G is Sentinels of the Multiverse, a cooperative card game in which 3 to 5 players control a team of super powered heroes battling a dastardly villain. Sentinels of the Multiverse, or SotM, provides players with an innovative, streamlined game play experience that is easy to learn but requires strategic, team-based thinking. The game comes with ten different heroes, allowing players to build myriad hero teams and find new ways to challenge the villains. There are four different villains, each with unique mechanics and challenges, and four dynamic environments in which the battles take place. This flexibility adds enormous replay value and ensures that no two SotM games will play the same.

New Vendors:

Basement Games & Hobbies - We are your one stop shop for all your table top gaming needs. From cards to board games to miniature accessories. Or if you are just looking for a place to hang out for a few hours and play a game with your friends. Come on in and see what a game shop really is.  Basement Games & Hobbies is a local retailer supporter of KantCon.  Their brick-and-mortar storefront is located at 5908 NW 63rd Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64151.

Costume Wrangler’s Closet - The Costume Wrangler specializes in Geek Chic with fun, custom-made, comic book themed corsets, and other one-of-a-kind costumes and jewelry. Check out my website at http://costumewrangler.com for more information on designs and upcoming projects, including more comic-book inspired corsets and even men’s ties!

First Mate Productions - First Mate Productions is an eclectic, home-based business providing individualized, artistic creations. The artistic endeavors involve custom assembled and/or created jewelry, traditional art creations and costuming. Specific product lines have been developed to address the dominant themes within the gaming community (role-playing as well as board gaming). These will be displayed as ready-made and accessible items for purchase, along with expert consultation on more individualized creations, with special orders being taken.

Midwest Monster Lab - The Monster Lab offers a full range of custom paint services! To place an order for a painting commission, email midwestmonsterlab@gmail.com with your name, address, models to be painted/modeled, and what level of detail you desire (if commissioning a paint).

Project Shiro - A rampant sci-fi geek with a BA in physics, artist Sara Ruse loves slick robots and the oddities of the universe. Making unique and interesting characters has always been a thrill for her. Since the age of 13 she has been sketching and drawing, and nearly everything she knows is self-taught.

KantCon Event Highlight: RoboRally

RoboRallyTime: Saturday 2:30pm – 4:30pm

GM: Nick Seal

Robot Racing to the Extreme! As one of several supercomputers in a fully automated widget factory, you have it made. You are brilliant. Your are powerful. You are sophisticated. You are BORED. Time to enjoy a little fun at the factory’s expense! With the other computers, program factory robots and pit them against each other in frantic, destructive races across the factory floors. Be the first to touch the flags, in order, and you win it all: the honor, the glory, the grudging respect of the other computers. But first you have to get your robot past obstacles like gaping pits, industrial lasers, moving conveyor belts and, of course, the other robots! This will be a quick game of RoboRally, designed to teach the basics of the game to inexperienced players. Programmers ages 13+, please.

Guest: Chris Perrin

Chris PerrinChris Perrin is the premier former-podcaster-turned-anime-inspired-rules-light-mecha-role-playing-game designer.  He’s also a self-titled “giant geek” who has loved the hobby since he cracked open his first RPG (which, oddly enough, wasn’t D&D).

For years he wanted to give back to the hobby, but wasn’t sure how until technology advanced to the point that podcasting and indie game publishing became easy.

Now, he spends way too much time thinking about new and exciting ways to blow up giant robots, writing about food, and spending his working hours writing software.

Find out more about Chris’s work at Heroic Journey Publications.
